1.  Watch this video on how to write a great conclusion.

2.  Review your essay.

3.  Read your thesis statement and rewrite it differently.

4.  Read the two topic sentences of your body paragraphs and rewrite them.

5.  Draw your essay to a close: this should relate to your hook in some way.

Joseph Wu’s Road To Curing Heart Disease

   

         Heart disease has been the leading cause of death for American men and women and has been worked on several times. Doctors have been trying several new methods to cure it but have yet to succeed. In the article, “This Man Might Make You a New Heart” by Taylor Mayol, a doctor named Joseph Wu works on a cure for heart disease also, just like other doctors I mentioned before but Wu is doing it in his own type of way. Joseph Wu is a caring person who is committed to the cure for heart disease and to make other people’s lives better. Overtime, Wu comes up with ways that can possibly cure heart disease with safe drug testing, making beating heart cells, and his dedication to this experiment. 


Wu does drug tests in the safest way ever that cannot harm humans. This is because he uses stem cells to test new drugs. In this article it states “Even in the shorter term, Wu’s research will change drug testing for the better. Doctors will administer drugs into petri dishes filled with stem cells, testing reactions on a small, safe scale”. This shows that Wu is being safe about drug testing by using petri dishes instead of humans. The text also states, “If you drug test humans, there could be other side effects from it. People could get sick, feel different type of pain because of it, or even die. Wu didn’t only make drug testing safe, he created beating heart cells.


Wu is using stem cells to make heart cells. This is becuase he wants to test them in the lab instead of on humans. In the article it states “Wu leads me to a room in his laboratory that’s the size of a walk-in closet. Inside, two postdocs are hunched over their work. One of them pulls a tiny glass dish out of the fridge, slips it under a high-powered microscope and lets me look. These are stem cells that have become heart cells. And they’re beating”. This means that Wu used stem cells to make heart cells that were in a tiny glass dish, which shows that he’s getting closer and closer to the cure that’ll help humans with heart disease. While Wu is working on the heart cells, he still is thinking about future ideas that will help heart disease also.


Overall, Wu is trying his hardest to make a cure to heart disease for all the people that has it. He first made drug testing safe by putting them in petri dishes instead of humans, second he made actual beating heart cells that are responsible for several functions in the heart, and lastly he believes he can make a heart for humans to have which i think will instantly take heart disease away. I feel that all of Wus ideas will be able to benefit people's lives in the future.

4.  Make the corrections suggested by your peer reviewers.

5.  Attach your essay to Assignment 30.0 and turn it in.

7.  Work on your Five-paragraph essay movie in Brain-pop.


Peer Reviewing

1.  Read the essay to yourself first. Make no corrections.

2.  Read the essay a second time looking for typos and fix them.

3.  Double check the author's color-coding.

4.  Use the rubric in Assignment 30.0 to "grade" the essay.

5.  Make at least 3 positive comments and at least three suggestions to improve the essay.
